We love all of what the Wollondilly Shire has to offer. So when someone asks for our recommendation as to where to live, it is hard for us to answer. We always say it depends what your priorities are. Do you want to be close to the freeway for work? Or is privacy and green open spaces on your wish list? Are you looking for a quaint village atmosphere? Or are you a steam train fanatic? These are just some of the questions that may help you decide where in Wollondilly you would most like to be.
Feel free to read through what our villages have to offer and decide for yourself!
The Wollondilly Shire....
Approximately 70km south west of Sydney, the Wollondilly Shire stretches from Bargo and Yanderra in the south, Appin and Menangle in the East, Warragamba and Nattai in the North and Burragorang Valley in the West, covering 2,560 square kilometres.
The area is rich with rural pastures, rolling hills, historic buildings interspersed with various tourist spots. Home to around 48,000 residents (as of 2015), Wollondilly is often referred to as the 'Foothills of the Southern Highlands'. Approximately 727 hectares of Wollondilly is beautiful open spaces and reserves, while more than half of the Shire comprises of national parks and sensitive water catchment lands. We enjoy an area blessed with natural beauty while being only 1 hour (approximately) from the centre of Sydney via the freeway.
Due to increasing interest and subsequent development, Wollondilly (and the Macarthur region overall) is expanding to eventually become another regional city in NSW.
